Diabetes!
We do not need much of an introduction to it as most of us know what it is. In
simple terms, it is a condition of abnormally high blood glucose as a result of
insulin shortages or inefficiencies. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

Most are even unaware of a condition
that serves as a pre-cursor to diabetes – PRE-DIABETES! Pre-diabetes is a condition
when blood
sugar or glucose is higher than
normal but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. Pre-diabetes means a
person is at an increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes. If this
condition goes unnoticed and is not addressed in time, it will most certainly
degenerate to diabetes. In fact, those who have type 2 diabetes almost always
passed through the pre-diabetes stage without ever knowing. Unfortunately,
pre-diabetes has no clear symptoms, which is why it goes unnoticed.
The only way to detect pre-diabetes
is through a blood sugar test. Almost always, those who found out about their
pre-diabetes condition on time did so because they went for a diabetes test. As
long as you are able to detect your pre-diabetes early, there is a probability
that you can prevent or at least delay its occurrence. Yes, I say delay because
some people by virtue of certain physiological or hereditary factors are more
predisposed to it than others. In any case you should go and get tested. What
if you already have Diabetes? Well, all hope is not lost. Remember that
diabetes is a metabolic condition. Insulin is unable to attach itself to your
cells and as a result your cells cannot absorb sugar. In some cases, your pancreas
cannot supply enough insulin so there is a shortage. But what if you can
somehow reverse the effect and induce more insulin production to enhance your
body’s insulin sensitivity? Most of the drugs available now are already doing
this. However most of these drugs are synthetic and as such have their own side
effects. In some cases these drugs have induced complications such as
hypoglycemia or low blood sugar.
